Pradosham | Pradosha Vratham | Pradosh

Pradosham is closely connected with the worship to seek blessings of Lord Shiva. Pradosham occurs monthly during Sukhla Paksha and Krishna Paksha Trayodashi.

Sukla Paksha Tithi happens before Full Moon or Poornima Tithi. Krishna Paksha Tithi happens before New Moon or Amavasya Tithi.

Pradosh vrat happens on both Trayodashi Tithi, Shukla Paksha Trayodashi and Krishna Paksha Trayodashi, in lunar month.

Pradosham on Monday is called as Soma Pradosham. Soma is short for Somavar called Monday. Pradosham on Tuesday is called as Bhauma Pradosham and on Saturday, is called as Shani Pradosham.

The exact Pradosha Vratham occurs when Trayodashi Tithi exists during Sunset of the day. This period is auspicious for Lord Shiva Pooja.

Pradosh period is very auspicious for worshiping Lord Shiva, this auspicious period exists 1 hour 30 minutes before Sunset and 1 hour 30 minutes after Sunset.

A devotee completes the prayer with in this three hours time period. A devotee shall wear rudraksha, apply Vibhuti on his forehead and worship Lord Shiva by offering Bilva leaves, Deepam etc…

Shani Pradosh, the Pradosham falling on Saturday represent the Lord of the day, Saturn is considered an important among other Pradosham.

All Pradosh period occur between 1-1/2 hours before and right up until the moment of sunset in the time zone where you are physically.

Pradosh vratham is observed (approximately) between 4.30 to 6.30 pm on the Trayodashi day (thirteenth moon day), in the evening which has Trayodashi Tithi.
